  Phi Delta Theta

Become the greatest version of yourself.

Making leaders.

Our members are among the most active leaders on campus, from Undergraduate Student Government and the Interfraternity Council, to Student Ambassadors and Troy Camp — we take pride in our active campus involvement and leadership positions outside of the traditional classroom setting

Having fun.

Who’s to say you can’t have the number 1 fraternity GPA in University Park IFC and still have fun? Not us! We pride ourselves on having an active social calendar, from tailgates, to invites, to brotherhood events. We believe that these events help to strengthen our brotherhood and allow for a more fulfilling (and fun) college experience

Phi Delta Theta California Delta (USC) - Philanthropy

Giving back.

We support the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), named after our Phi Delta Theta Brother, through multiple annual events to raise awareness and funds in his honor; we also support other charitable causes by participating in events championed by numerous USC Panhellenic sororities

An Overview.

The California Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta was established in 1948 - the national fraternity's centennial year - and officially chartered as one of USC's youngest fraternities on January 30, 1949.  The California Delta founders envisioned a bonded brotherhood compatible with the ambitious yet welcoming and accepting culture of both USC and Los Angeles, with each member being dedicated to social and scholastic excellence and service to others above self during the most pivotal period in their lives. Building on this paradigm, the chapter experienced unparalleled growth and prosperity, and it now maintains the largest active and alumni memberships of all Phi Delta Theta chapters west of the Rocky Mountains, with 135 actives and almost 2,500 alumni. Following the lead of the majority of fraternities at USC, in the fall of 2023, the Phi Delta Theta California Delta chapter decided to disaffiliate from USC. Ultimately, the actions and decisions of the university do not align with the goals of Phi Delta Theta at USC. The founders' vision of the California Delta chapter and their plans for the future of its members have in every respect been realized.

2023 marks the 127th anniversary of the house’s construction, and the 73nd year of the chapter’s activity on Greek Row.

Our Mission.

The USC California Delta chapter's unrivaled and defining strength is its dedication and fidelity to accomplishing its mission of helping every member meet his unlimited potential by celebrating his innermost self and - by learning from other members' strengths - while helping to improve each other's weaknesses - giving him the best opportunity to develop into a greater version of himself than he ever could have on his own. Rather than trying to find potential members to "mold," the chapter acknowledges the uniqueness of each member and - through encouragement, values, example, and brotherhood - empowers each individual to exceed his own personal expectations. This self-affirming ideology’s life-changing impact on each individual member of the fraternity is the heart and soul of the California Delta chapter of Phi Delta Theta.
